Chapter 22

Sabari stormed out of his home and gave a rapid chase behind the anonymous person. With the gates closed, Sabari for a moment thought that he would be able to nab him. But his confidence broke as the person leaped through the compound wall and landed on the other side comfortably. That was enough to confirm that it should be a male.

Sabari ran fast as quick as he can, opened the gate and came out. When he looked around, he could see that the person had already vanished.

Sabari walked a few yards searching for him and gave up. It was dark around and Sabari took deep breath. Once his heartbeat and breath came to normal, he heard that sound. It was the sound of someone moaning.

Sabari switched on his mobile torch and flashed the light around. To his left, he saw someone lying on the grass. The moan came from the person. Sabari walked closer to him and found that it was the security Thangaraj. That was when he realized that he forgot to check the security before he entered home. He lifted the security and made him sit. Thangaraj placed both his hands on back of his head and moaned in pain.

 “Thangaraj!!! What happened?”

“Sir!!! Someone stabbed me on my head and entered the house. ”

“Who was that?”

“I couldn’t see the face sir… “

As the security spoke, he gradually slid to his left and fell unconscious. Sabari placed his index finger near his nose. The seamless breathing confirmed that Thangaraj is alive and had fainted. He dragged Thangaraj towards the compound wall nearby to make him sit comfortably.

Sabari was confused as to what to do next. With Ananya in a pool of blood in the bedroom and his security being attacked, he just had a single option. To report it to the cops. He looked around. The street was empty with just the streetlights on.

Having decided what to do next, Sabari took his mobile and went to the dialer option. When he was about to dial, a vehicle with the headlights on, entered the street. It was a car and it was coming towards his direction. The car stopped in front of the gate. Only when the car stopped, he noticed that it was a taxi.

Sabari wondered who could be the visitor at the wee hour. The backdoor of the taxi opened and someone got down.

Sabari got another shocker for the day. It was Ananya. Ananya paid the taxi and after the taxi left, Ananya noticed Sabari.

Ananya turned to Sabari, “Sabari!!! What are you doing here at this time?”

“An…Ananya??? You… “

Words struggled to come out of Sabari. Ananya saw that Sabari was up to something.

“What happened?? When did you reach home?”

Sabari wiped the pouring sweat and asked, “Where did you go?”

“I went to the hospital”

“Hospital?? What happened to you?”

“Not me… It was for another person. I had to admit him to the hospital”

“Who is that ‘Him’ ?”

“I will answer you, but not here. Let us get in”

Ananya without waiting for Sabari walked through the gate. Sabari followed her wondering what was happening around him. He also gave up the idea of confronting her with all the questions he had in his mind and decided to listen to her first.

Ananya and Sabari entered the hall. Ananya sat on the couch tired and turned to Sabari.

“Sabari!! Listen.. I’m in a sort of confused state for the past couple of days. Right now, I want to talk it out openly.”

Sabari, who was waiting for such a moment occupied the couch opposite to her.

“Yes… Go ahead”

There was a moment of silence and the bigger question of who was in the bedroom was hovering over his mind.

Ananya asked, “When did you come home?”

“Just now”

“Who opened the door for you?”

“None… The door was not locked”

“What do you mean?”

“Yes.. The door was open when I came here”

“If so, did you get yourself introduced to Vasudharini? Did you talk to her?”

“Vasudharini?? Who is that?”

“Oh.. Then, I believe you did not see her at all. May be she has slept in the guest bedroom upstairs”

That was when Sabari got the answer. It was Vasudharini, who was lying dead in the bedroom.

“Who got admitted in the hospital?”

“He is Abilash…. Vasudharini’s fiancée”

“Oh”

“Ya… They are in a relationship and their parents did not approve their relationship. They both came from Tirunelveli without informing their parents and reached Chennai a couple of days back. They used to visit our home after you left to work will leave in the evening before you return home”

“Why do they have to do that?”

“They weren’t sure how you would react.. “

“Where do they stay in the night?”

“They have booked a hotel temporarily. At the same time, they were looking for a rental accommodation.”

“Okay…What happened to Abilash? Why was he admitted in the hospital?”

“He had a mild heart attack. Vasudharini called me a while back from the hotel. I was wondering what to do, as I did not have enough time to inform you. So, I took the car and left to the hotel. When we admitted Abilash in the hospital, Vasudharini noticed that one of the doctor was Abilash’s close relative. She didn’t want to get caught and asked me for a solution. I asked her to take the car and go home. I thought you will be back only by morning. But you reached home earlier. She must have slept without locking the door. I’m sure she doesn’t know that you were home. That is ok.. Let us wake her up.”

Ananya woke up from the couch and Sabari stopped her.

“Ananya!!! One minute”

“Yes?”

Ananya stood waiting for Sabari to speak.

“Vasudharini is not in guest bedroom”

“If not where is she?”

“In our bedroom”

“Oh.. ok.. She might have been lazy to climb the stairs and would have used our bedroom. Did you happened to see her?”

“Yes I did”

“I’m sure she would have got stunned seeing you” and Ananya giggled.

“It was not her who was stunned”

“What? I didn’t understand”

“You can walk to our bedroom and have a look”

A confused Ananya rose from the couch and walked to the bedroom.
