Chapter 51 - The End

 

Sabari gazed into his laptop in the same position, as he was earlier. Abilash, with the mouth of the pistol, lifted his face and looked into his eyes.

“Your delaying tactics won’t work Sabari. I have reached a deal with a Korean company. Once I receive the soft copies, I would swim in millions of dollars. Once I came to know about the Bionic project from my sources, I wanted to meet you personally and discuss. All my attempts failed. I was surprised when I came to know that your wife Ananya is Vasudharini’s close friend. That was enough for me to take it forward. And I had to tell Vasu about my plans. She was ready to support my ambitions. As our parents were against our relationship, we used the situation to our favour and looked for Ananya’s help. As expected, Ananya was ready to help. Whenever we visited your residence in your absence, we searched through every corner of the rooms looking for the information on the project. We guessed all the information would be in your laptop, but couldn’t locate it.”

Sabari stared at Abilash without even a blink and Abilash continued.

“The situation got out of my hands too quickly, when Vasu started empathizing for Ananya and you. She was obsessed with the unintentional love of Ananya towards us. I was shocked when Vasu told me that we should stop everything. When I refused to back out, she warned me that she might confess to Ananya. That was when I became cautious and had to take decisions too quick. My goal was not just to make money… But big money…Nothing and no one is as important as money”

Abilash took a deep breath, took a bottle of water and emptied almost half of it. He continued.

“We as a team, regrouped and hatched a plan. I know for sure that Vasu might turn a foe anytime. If she does, it’s after effects will be severe. That was when I imitated a Heart Attack and I was rushed to the hospital where Doctor Balaji is practicing. Balaji is my partner too. At the same time, Vasu happened to meet another doctor who belongs to our native and she returned to your home. While Ananya was in the hospital, I sneaked through the back door of the ICU. Prasanna was already waiting for me in the hospital car park and we both drove back to your home. As Prasanna parked his car in one of the corners of the street, I entered your home with a mask.  Unfortunately, the security Thangaraj saw me and put all his efforts to stop me. I hit him with a flowerpot on his head. He fainted and I entered in. It didn’t take more than five minutes to kill Vasu. And then, you entered in. I hid myself behind the couch. Once I saw you entering into your bedroom, I escaped through the front door.”

Abilash turned to Sabari and said, “You may wonder why the hell I am confessing all this. It is for a single reason that you should not underestimate me. I’ll and can take any extreme step to achieve my goals.”

Sabari said, “Are you the one who killed my MD Sidharth and Prathap?”

“No…… Not at all… But I know who did it…”

Sabari raised his brows and asked, “Who?”

“You may wonder how I may know these…. We are a team around twenty people working on this and we have been monitoring every single movement of the key people in your organization. To your question, Prathap was killed by your MD Sidharth. There was a conflict of interest between them. Sidharth found out that Prathap sold out information of some key project to the competitors. As those projects were unlawful, Sidharth couldn’t take any legal action against him. So he had to take the extreme step of assassinating him.”

“How about Sidharth?”

“Two days back, the business deal with Chang Lee didn’t turned out well on the Bionic Project. Sidharth tried to re-negotiate their shares after he saw the improvements in the Bionic Project. Chang Lee was pissed off as Sidharth wanted to go for a new contract. That made Chang Lee angry and he decided to shut off Sidharth once for all. He did it personally in his own style.”

Pranitha who was in one corner of the room walked to Sabari.

“Sabari!!! Hope you got answers for all the puzzles. Now it is just you… You have to decide how this story has to end. It can end only in my advantage. If you want to have a peaceful future with your wife, get us all what we needed. If you are dreaming about a cinematic ending that cops will save your life, forget about it. Let me show you something… “

Pranitha took her mobile and unlocked it. She navigated through the WhatsApp and gave it Sabari.

Pranitha said, “You may be wish that Mahadev to turn out as savior for you. If yes, watch this…”

Sabari took the mobile and saw a video in the WhatsApp conversion. The video was forwarded ten minutes back and Sabari played it. The video showed images of Inspector Mahadev. He was seen walking in the beach.

As the video played, Pranitha continued, “The video was recorded live by one of my team member following him and he is right now in Besant Nagar beach.”

Sabari handed the mobile back to Pranitha. He was annoyed and depressed that he was out of options. Abilash turned to Sabari.

“Ok Sabari!!! Let us get back to work. Unlock your laptop and let us proceed further… “

Sabari pulled the laptop and switched it on. When he was about to type the password, the intercom in the room rang.

Prasanna took the receiver of the landline phone.

“Yes?”

It was the security at their entrance.

“Sir…. Doctor Balaji is here “

“Oh ok… Handover the phone to him...”

Doctor Balaji spoke.

“Hello…”

“Yes doctor… I didn’t expect you this early… anything important?”

“Our mediator Robert has come from South Korea. He wanted talk to Abilash urgently… I have brought him along right now… “

“Oh.. Ok… What is it regarding?”

“He said, he like to discuss it only with Abilash”

“Ok… Not a problem. This is the best time to talk... Bring him in”

Prasanna disconnected the call and informed Abilash about Robert’s visit. Abilash was thrilled.

“Looks like everything happening at the right time. Actually, I wanted to discuss with Robert on the efforts that we had put to close-in for the project. Hope he would value us. Let us go and bring him here.”

Abilash, Prasanna and Pranitha walked out of the room. They walked through corridor and walked down the stairs. The hall was empty without his team members. Abilash felt something was wrong and took his pistol in his hand. At the same time, Doctor Balaji entered in.

Abilash looked at Doctor Balaji and asked, “Where is Robert?”

A tall dark guy entered the room. Abilash, Prasanna and Pranith were shocked as they saw someone else.

Prasanna asked, “Doctor!!! This not him…. Who is he and where is Robert?” and he grabbed his pistol.

Once Prasanna completed the sentence, there were a series of gunshots. Prasanna saw that the windows on the either side were broken. When Abilash tried to realize what was happening, Prasanna and Pranitha, who were standing next to them were on the floor bleeding. They were shot in their arms and legs and were in pain.

Abilash moved his eyes away from Doctor Balaji for a moment and was shaken looking at his partners bleed. Four men with Light Machine guns throng inside through the windows. Those four men stood in position pointing the guns towards Abilash.

Abilash turned his eyes back to Doctor Balaji and the guy who came with doctor spoke with pistol in his hand.

“Mr. Abilash… I’m Manoj, an officer from the special task force officer.”

Abilash looked at him in shock while Manoj continued to speak.

“Doctor Balaji had changed sides yesterday. I have been working with Inspector Mahadev for the last couple of days as his backup. I am not involved directly but informed everything about this case. Yesterday, the control room got a call from the hospital where Thangaraj was admitted. We were told that security Thangaraj was out of coma. The doctors tried to reach out to Sabari and Ananya, but could not reach them. Inspector Mahadev was informed and he reached the hospital in no time. Thangaraj gave a testimony about the incidents and gave us a vital clue. He said that the person who attacked him had a bracelet with letters AV engraved in it. Mahadev realized that he had seen the bracelet earlier and his brain tracked it back to Abilash. He had seen Abilash wearing the bracelet while in the hospital. We also guessed that it might be your plan to create a character to mimic Vasudharini and make her talk through phone for the outside world. Mahadev contacted me to discuss this. At the same time, he was well aware that the rivals might be monitoring his movements. I reached the hospital to check on Abilash. Abilash’s room in the hospital was empty and we expected that. I walked over to Doctor Balaji’s consultation room and when I was about to knock the door, I happened to overhear a phone conversation he was having with you. I heard him talking about Sabari. When I confronted him, he gave me illogical statement. I had to give him some special treatment and he confessed everything in an hour. Mahadev and myself had an overnight discussion with senior officials and created a team. Doctor turned approver and led us here…”

Abilash patiently heard the incidents that happened in the background while he was busy. He dropped his gun and was about to say something.

Manoj interrupted him and said, “You need not say anything here. We have a team waiting outside to take over. We will record your confession while in our custody”

The armed men walked Abilash outside the residence. Manoj took his mobile and contacted Mahadev. Mahadev picked up the call.

“Finally…..I was waiting for your call Manoj…”

“Inspector… It is done… When can we expect you?”

“I’m starting right away… “ and the call was disconnected.

Manoj walked through the stairs and searched through every room. Sabari was walking out of the room hearing the gunshots.

Manoj said, “Mr. Sabari… You are safe… where is your wife?

“She should be here in one of the rooms”

Manoj walked over to one of the room to his left and saw Ananya on a bed. Sabari, in an attempt to wake her, shook her body. The influence of the drug made her intoxicated. Sabari didn’t give up and after a few attempts, Ananya opened her eyes.  

Sabari hugged her with teary eyes and asked, “Are you alright???”

Ananya in her low voice replied, “Think so… Is everything over??”

Sabari replied, “Ya.. Almost”

“If not, allow me to lie down here until it is over”

“We are good and the cops have saved us”

“Is your Bionic still alive?”

“Please….Don’t talk about it for a few days… “

After days of struggle, smiles swamped the faces of Sabari and Ananya.
