Chapter 47

Inspector Mahadev asked, “Oh!!! We have just 5 more minutes for Vasudharini to call.. correct?”

“Yes inspector.. She will call anytime from now”

“But….”, Abilash dragged as he spoke.

“What??”

“I do have my own doubts”

“About what?”

“Vasu used to call twice or thrice in a day. Whenever she does, she always called me from anonymous landline numbers. I asked her for the reason and she replied that she lost her mobile. And that she had to call from one of the public phone”

 “So.. What is your doubt here? Do you mean she is lying?”

“Her mobile might have been lost or stolen... It can happen for anyone…I didn’t mean that”

“What else?”

“It is about the way she speaks…”

“Is that not the voice of Vasudharini?”

“No doubts about her voice… But the modulation and the tone… Something is not right”

“OK… “

“I couldn’t come to a conclusion yet.. I’m confused and doubtful”

“OK… Anyways.. she is going to call you anytime from now… When you speak, switch on the phone speaker”

“Ok Inspector”

Abilash turned to Sabari and said, “Mr. Sabari… I’m really sorry”

Sabari was confused and asked, “For what?”

“Myself and Vasu were at your place without your knowledge. That has brought you a lot of problems”

“Come on Abilash… I believe and support whatever Ananya does… No worries”

“Where is she? Didn’t she accompany you here?”

“We have guests at home.. So, I didn’t take her along.. “

As Sabari was struggling to answer, Abilash’s phone rang. Everyone in the room stopped speaking and looked at Abilash’s mobile.

Abilash looked at the display to check who is calling and looked at Mahadev.

“I think it is her… “

“Ok.. Go ahead and take the call”

Abilash switched on the speaker and started to speak.

“Hello?”

“Abi… This is Vasu.. “

“I was waiting for your call”

“Are you feeling good?”

“Ya.. I’m back to normal right now.. Doctor is ready to discharge me from the hospital. If you were here, I might have been discharged. But, you left somewhere after you started from Ananya’s residence. I’m stuck and waiting for you. I can get discharged only after you reach here.”

“Im really sorry Abi… I will be done with all my special puja’s by tomorrow. Mostly I would reach the hospital by tomorrow evening…”

“I’m really surprised…”

“About?”

“I havent seen your spiritual version of yours anytime... I know you only as an atheist.”

“Everyone get to change at some point in their life... And it happened to me too.. May be it is because of you… “

“Ok.. Whatever… Start as early as you can...It is really frustrating to be in the hospital for long…”

“Sure Abi… I will be there before 8 PM tomorrow evening.. The first thing to do once I land there is to buy a mobile phone… It is really tough to manage without one”

“Can buy one… “

“Ok then.. I will meet you tomorrow.. Take rest…bye now”

“Bye.. “

The call was disconnected. Everyone’s eyes were on Abilash. Mahadev started first.

“Are you sure that it was Vasudharini?”

“The voice is hers.. But I still see some difference in the way she speaks. Other than that, I’m seriously astonished by her spiritual transformation. My doubts will be cleared only tomorrow evening”

“What if, she doesn’t return tomorrow evening?”

Abilash was stunned by that question from Inspector Mahadev.

“Inspector!!! What made you ask such a question?”

“No… No… Don’t mistake me Abilash… She is all alone in a different place without you and anything can happen. You have already told us that your life is in danger from both your parents. What if, she was kidnapped by the gang searching for you folks… “

“If that was the case, those guys might have been here by now looking for me. I’m sure that she is safe. She will be here tomorrow night. You are going to see both of us as married couple sooner.”

Sabari and Inspector Mahadev looked at each other after Abilash’s confident statement.

Mahadev turned back to Abilash and said, “We wish and hope that she is safe. Once she is here, do let us know. We have to do an enquiry”

“Sure Inspector… “

“Ok.. You take care of yourself.. We will meet you again soon..

‘”Thank you.. “

Inspector Mahadev and Sabari walked out of the room. Sabari couldn’t maintain his silence. He turned to Mahadev.

“Inspector… I’m 100 percent sure that Vasudharini was murdered in my residence. And it was myself and Ananya who disposed her body. Being so, how can she speak over the phone.. Someone is trying to imitate her and cheating Abilash… “

“What is their intention doing so?”

“I.. I don’t have any idea about that.. But there should be something that need to be figured out”

“We cannot believe whatever we see through our eyes or hear. Let us be patient to conclude anything.. “

While Mahadev was speaking, Sabari’s phone rang. He looked at the display and noticed that it was an anonymous number. He attended the call.

“Hello?”

“Looks like you are on a date with Inspector Mahadev without any concern about your wife.”

It was Prasanna.

Once I came to know about the Bionic project from my sources, I wanted to meet you personally and discuss. All my attempts failed.
