Chapter 42

Sabari had one more shock of his life as he heard that MD Sidharth has been killed. His body reacted instantaneously. His heart beat sky rocketed and he began to sweat.

“Sir…. How.. How and when did this happen?”

“Not sure yet… The scene-of-crime investigation is on right now”

“You might have to inform Inspector Mahadev regarding this..”’

“He is here in the crime scene already”

“Oh.. I need to talk to him now… Can I? ”

“I think.. Yes… He is in the hall.. “

Sabari walked towards the wide hall and wiped the dripping sweat with his hanky. Inspector Mahadev was enquiring two servants.

Mahadev saw Sabari standing in the hall and signaled the servants to leave. He walked towards Sabari and asked, “Hey Sabari… Did someone inform you about the incident here? ”

“No sir.. I came to meet Sidharth casually without informing him. I wanted to meet him and discus something important about the Bionic Project. And the officer outside informed me the tragic news. I couldn’t digest the recent happenings. Yesterday it was Prathap and now it is Sidharth.”

“The killer should be a common enemy of both. Right?

“May be”

“Do you know who that could be?”

“Sidharth is an entrepreneur and usually meets a lot of people on a day, apart from employees of ‘Biospace Technologies’. It is really hard to filter it from a whole”

“Hmm… Any suspects that you may knew?”

“I’m really sorry… None comes to my mind”

“That is ok… Why made you to visit SIdharth at this time?”

“I’m quite disturbed by the incidents that happened recently. So, I decided to quit and disconnect myself from the Bionic Project that I have been doing and also quit ‘Biospace Technologies’. My wife is terrified too”

“What made her terrified?”

“She felt that I might be targeted next after Prathap. I tried to console her, but couldn’t. So I wanted to convey my decision to Sidharth.”

“You need not do that now as he is not alive..”

Sabari peeped into one of the rooms that was on his right. Inspector Mahadev said, “No.. This is not where the murder happened…It is in his bedroom in the first floor. Let us go there.”

There was a stair on the left and Mahadev climbed the stairs followed by Sabari.

Mahadev asked, “Sabari!!! I heard that Sidharth has a family… His wife and a daughter… “

“That is right Inspector. But they are not in contact with him”

“Why?”

“hmm…. “ and there was some hesitation from Sabari. Mahadev understood his silence and turned around to him.

“Let me tell you something.... I read an interesting quote.. When you lie to someone and if the person comes to know that it is a LIE, whatever you spoke to him in the past becomes questionable. I don’t want that to happen with you.. We have to find out the killers of Prathap and Sidharth.”

“Inspector… I didn’t hide anything from you. When speaking to me over the phone, you suspected that Sidharth might have killed Prathap. Moreover, you talked about the verbal altercation between them, which I was not aware of. When I’m not even aware of such incidents, it is tough for me to name someone who might have killed them and the motive behind it.”

Inspector and Sabari reached the first floor and entered the first room. The room was bright as all the lights were switched on. A couple of forensic officers, with their gloves, were spraying Arsenic florescent powder on the objects in the room, to collect the fingerprints.

Sidharth’s gigantic body was on the bed with his mouth open and his eyes frozen to the ceiling. Sabari’s spine chilled, as he saw the man he admired, dead.

Inspector Mahadev walked to the right side of his body and said, “The killing pattern is similar to that of Prathap’s murder. If you notice Sidharth’s neck there would be a peanut sized wound.”

Sabari had a close look at his neck and replied, “Yes… I can see that”

“The wound is less than an inch in length and as thin as a scribble with a pen. There are no blood stains, but that wound had killed him”

“How in the world is that possible?”

“The forensic team analyzed the wound and as per their first sight report, the killer might have used a ‘Uranium Blade’.

Sabari’s eyes widened in a surprise and Mahadev continued.

“I haven’t heard about this weapon before either. The killer with this weapon need not do much. All he has to do is, just tear the adam’s apple slightly with this blade and that would suffice to kill the person.”

“How did the forensic team conclude that it was caused by Uranium blade?”

“Sidharth was killed two hours back and the blood from the wound didn’t clot until now. Only a wound created by a Uranium blade will leave that impact.”

“I don’t have a clue on why someone is doing all these killings?”

“If you could cooperate with us, we can identify the killers. Else it would be a herculean task for us.”

For a short period, Sabari softened his stand and was encouraged to reveal about Prasanna and his blackmail. Before he could decide, his mobile phone rang.

The mobile phone display showed a new anonymous number. Sabari attended the call.

“Hello?”

“Did you meet Sidharth and convey your decision? What was his response?”

It was Prasanna.
