Chapter 25

Sabari noticed that the person was still standing at the gate. The person peeped towards the gate, looked around and waited. Sabari reached the gate and switched on his car headlights. The bright high beam lights from the car drenched the anonymous person.

Ananya instantaneously identified who that was. It was the Gurkha of the area, Saran Dev. Dressed in Khaki, he had a torch and a polished stick in his hand. A heavy knife with a curved blade was hanging in a pouch attached to his trousers.

Sabari noticed that he looked normal without any surprises. The Gurkha walked towards the driving seat of the car.

Gurkha Saran Dev saluted him and said, “Namasthe Saab”

Sabari, who was already in a nervous mood, got down from his car.

“What are you doing here?”

“Maaf karo saab. I used to walk down here every single day. Your security Thangaraj would be awake at this time. We used to chat for a while. As he was not visible in the usual place, I was wondering whether he has gone inside. Nothing else sir. Don’t mistake me”

“That’s ok.. You can leave”

“Saab!!! Is Thangaraj not in today?”

“Yes.. He is sick… “

“Can I open the gate for you Saab?”

“No… Thanks.. I will do it myself”

Gurkha Saran Dev saluted him and walked in the opposite direction. Sabari opened the gate and came back to the car. He turned to Ananya.

“Did you observe him? I’m not sure whether we can believe him”

“Sabari!!! He was right and is harmless. I have seen him talking to Thangaraj during this time. We need not worry or ponder about him at this point of time”

“uhmm… Ok.. We have to be very cautious in this situation. Even a small mistake can land us in trouble”

Sabari parked the car inside the gate. He walked to the gate and locked it. In the meantime, Ananya unlocked the entrance door.

Ananya asked, “You didn’t tell me yet as how we are gonna dispose Vasusharini’s body”

“Oh ya.. “

“I remember you said that it is going to be a simple way”

“Yes it is. You will see that while I do. Let me get myself ready to do that”

Sabari opened the bedroom door and entered in. He looked at the body for a few seconds and came back to Ananya.

“Ananya!!! I want you to open the car trunk. In the meantime, I will wrap Vasu’s body with a blanket and carry it outside. We can dispose it in an hour”

Ananya was bewildered and asked, “Where are we going to dispose it?”

“Don’t ask too many questions now. We don’t have much time. Believe me.. Everything will happen smooth without any troubles. So!!! I want you to open the trunk and before you do that, make sure no one is watching”

Ananya who was gloomy, replied, “I’m already terrified that we might get caught”

Sabari came closer to Ananya, looked into her eyes and said, “We will not have peace of mind until we dispose the dead body. Every second with her body is a risk. So stay calm and just do what I say“

“Ok”

Once Ananya walked out, Sabari took a blanket and spread it near the entrance of the bedroom. He then carried the dead body and dragged it with all his strength.  

Sabari placed the body on the blanket and wrapped it from top to bottom. His heart beat rose and breathe was heavy while he did that. He dragged the body outside. Ananya was ready with the car trunk open.

Sabari pushed the body into the trunk and closed it. His dress was drenched in sweat. He turned to Ananya.

“Ananya!!! Get into the car.. I will lock the door and we can leave”

“Just a minute”

“What?”

“What if the cops stop us while on our way?”

“I know the route where there will be no cops. Don’t think anything negative. Just get inside the car and we can start in couple of minutes. This will be over in an hour”

“And…. How are we disposing the body without leaving any mark?”

“You will understand when you see that in real”

Sabari walked to the entrance and locked the door and Ananya got into the car. He also carried a thick 20 liters plastic container and placed it in the back seat of the car.

Ananya asked, “What is in the container? Is that petrol?”

“No… It is water”

“For?”

“It is needed to dispose the body”

“How do we do it with just the water?”

“The same answer… You will get to know when I do it”

Sabari walked to the driving seat and the car moved.

In the next couple of minutes, Sabari’s car zoomed through the empty streets. The car entered into narrow roads and it took a number of turns. Soon the car entered the Taramani suburb area. After taking couple of turns, the car stopped in front of a construction site.

Ananya peeped outside, looked around the area and asked, “Which place is this?”

“It’s a construction site and we are gonna dispose the body here”

“But… why here?”

“The construction in this site began two years ago. At one stage, the builder couldn’t continue as the bank refused to sanction the loan and the construction was stopped. If you look around, you will be able to see a number of pits dug for pillars. We are going to dispose the body in one of those pits”

Ananya looked dreaded as she heard that.

“We have to close the pit..right?”

“We need not”

“Are you kidding? How can we leave it open? The body will decompose and the foul smell in air would get the attention of others easily”

“The body will not decompose”

“Explain me how”

“Ok.. Can you open the car dashboard?”

Ananya opened the car dashboard. There were bunch of papers and receipts inside.

Sabari said, “If you clear those papers, you will find a wooden box. Take that out”

“What is inside the box?”

“Just do what I say”

Ananya removed all the papers in the dashboard and found a wooden box. The box was slightly heavy.

“Now!! Open the box”

Ananya obeyed the orders and she opened the box.
