Chapter 24

Ananya who was already disconsolate, fumed at Sabari.

“Are you kidding? Do you understand the seriousness? Disposing a dead body is not a cakewalk. There are cops patrolling everywhere. If at all we are caught, we are giving an opportunity for the cops to assume that we are the one who killed Vasudharini. We should call the cops and narrate them whatever had happened”

“Wait… Wait…I have a reason... With my Bionic project in the last phase, the death of the boss Prathap had already made MD Sidharth disheartened. The death of Vasudharini will be like adding fuel to the fire for him. If at all we take this to the cops, do you know what would happen?”

“???”

“The cops would link the murder of Prathap and Vasudharini and this would be icing on the cake for the media. Media people will throng our house to extract as much as possible. This would definitely bother my MD and lead to suspend the project indefinitely. The Bionic project is one of the goals of my lifetime.”

Ananya couldn’t find the reasoning relatable and said, “I won’t be able to accept your explanation. Even if I do half-heartedly, it is a herculean and tedious task to dispose Vasu’s body.”

“I know how it is. But, once we achieve it, it is tough to digest this for a couple of days. We will get better once days pass”

“What are we going to answer Abilash?”

 “I have a plan for that too”

“What?”

“If Abilash asks for her, here is what we have to say. ‘Vasudharini woke up early in the morning. Once we informed you are back to normal, she wanted to see you immediately. She took an auto without ignoring the warning and despite our request that we would join her too. Unfortunately, she didn’t reach the hospital. Anything could have happened before even reaching the hospital’ “

“Will he believe our story?”

“Yes.. And I have a strong reason for Abilash to believe the story..”

“What is that?”

“Abilash and Vasudharini have some strong opposition for their love affair from their parents. And the chances of any of them being attacked by either side is imminent.”

Ananya wiped her tears and was thoughtful for a few seconds. She then turned to Sabari.

“So!!! How are we going to dispose the body? I can think of only two options. Either we have to bury or burn the body. The risks involved in both are high.”

“I know it is a huge risk. For the same reason, I’m not going to do either of these.”

“If not these two, are you going to tie her body to stone and drop in a pond?”

“I think you are watching too much of movies. These ideas are crap. Even if you drop the body in a pond or a sea, it would float one day. The body has to be disposed in such a way that even the bones of her body are untraceable.”

“How do we do that?”

“I will explain that later. Right now, we have to treat our security Thangaraj who is injured. We can get him admitted in our family doctor Saravanan’s hospital nearby. We might get some clue from Thangaraj once he is back to normal.”

“Ok… You can take him to hospital. I will wait here until you return”

“Are you sure that you can wait alone?”

“Yes…. I can… “

Sabari was thoughtful for a moment and said, “Hmm.. I don’t want you to be here. There is a chance that the killer might return in case he knew that you are alone. We shouldn’t give that opportunity.”

“Oh ya.. True”

In the next couple of minutes, Ananya and Sabari locked the door and walked to the gate. While Ananya drove the car, Sabari lifted Thangaraj and carried him into the car.

The duty doctor in the hospital attended Thangaraj. When asked about how Thangaraj got injured, Sabari gave a planned response.

“He dozed off while sitting in the chair and fell down injuring his head. That made him unconscious”

The duty doctor returned to Sabari and Ananya after checking Thangaraj.

“His head injury is severe. He needs to get treated immediately and have to be in observation in the ICU”

“OK doctor. Please do whatever is needed to bring him back to normal. Doctor Saravanan is also a good friend of mine. We both are part of a non-profitable NGO”

“Oh ya… I know that. I have seen you with him a few times. We will start the treatment for him. Give us your contact number. We will call you if we need your attention in case of emergency”

“Thanks doctor”

Sabari wrote his number in a visiting card and gave it to the duty doctor. They did the formalities in the hospital and came out of the hospital.

While they were on the way, Ananya asked, “I think you said that Thangaraj told you that someone had attacked him.. Right?”

“Ya”

“If Thangaraj is back to his conscious and if the doctor asks him how it happened, he might tell that truth that he was attacked… The doctors might suspect us then”

“If they do, I would tell them that I didn’t understand what Thangaraj said to me”

“What if, doctor Saravanan wants to report this to the cops.”

“Ananya!!! Let us not worry about it now. Our most important worry is to dispose Vasudharini’s body”

In the next couple of minutes, the car entered the street of their residence. Just then, Sabari noticed that someone was standing in front of the gate. The person was also at time peeping up and checking whether anyone else was inside.

Sabari became cautious and switched of his car headlights. The car almost crawled and reached the gate.
